Lion Brand® Lion® Cotton - Cotton-Ease®
GAUGE: 13 sts + 18½ rows = 4 in. [10 cm] in pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: | sp-2 (spike st 2 rows below) A single crochet worked in the st corresponding to the next st,
but 2 rows below the working row (instead of in the usual st 1 row below the working row).
COLOR SEQUENCE
*1 row A, 1 row B, 1 row C, 1 row D, 1 row E, 1 row F, 1 row G; rep from * for color sequence. |
NOTES:
- Unused colors should be carried up wrong side of work.
- To change color, work last stitch to the point where there are 2 loops on hook, yarn over with
new color to complete stitch.

| I did not do a good job with the yarn carrying, and found the spike stitch challenging at first; mine was huge (fit my 12 cup teapot, though I made it for my sister's 6-cup teapot). It works very well, though.
