GAUGE:
17 sts = 4 in. [10 cm] in Seed stitch with B. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION:
Seed stitch (over an uneven number of sts)
Row 1: Knit 1, *purl 1, knit 1; rep from * across.
Rep Row 1 for Seed st.

SCARF With B, cast on 21 sts.
Knit 1 row.
Change to A and knit 2 rows.
Change to B and knit 6 rows.
Rep last 8 rows until piece measures 20 in. [51 cm], end with 2 rows of A.
Change to B and work even in Seed st until piece measures 98 in. [249 cm] from beg.
Change to A and knit 2 rows.
Change to B and knit 1 row.
Bind off.
FINISHING
Weave in ends.
