Garter Swing Pullover

Lion Brand® Wool-Ease®

17 sts + 32 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Garter st (k every row) with larger needle(s). When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

With larger straight needles, cast on 94 (106, 116) sts.
Rows 1-12: Knit.
Row 13 (Dec Row): Dec 4 sts evenly spaced along next row – 90 (102, 112) sts.
Repeat Dec Row every 14 (18, 20) rows 3 times more – 78 (90, 100) sts.
Continue to work even until piece measures 17 (18, 19) in. (43 (45.5, 48.5) cm), end with WS row.

Shape Armhole
Bind off 6 sts at beg of next 2 rows – 66 (78, 88) sts. Slip sts to stitch holder.

SLEEVE (make 2)
With larger straight needles, cast on 42 (52, 60) sts. Work in Garter st for 4 in (10 cm). Increase 1 st at each edge of next row and every 4 in. (10 cm) 3 more times – 50 (60, 68) sts.
Work even in Garter st until Sleeve measures 17 in. (43 cm), end with a WS row.

Shape Armhole
Bind off 6 sts at beg of next 2 rows – 38 (48, 56) sts. Slip sts to stitch holders.

Yoke is worked back and forth in rows on circular needle. Turn at the end of each row.

From RS, slip sts from holders to circular needle in following order: 66 (78, 88) sts for Back, 38 (48, 56) sts for Sleeve, 66 (78, 88) sts for Front, 38 (48, 56) sts for Sleeve – 208 (252, 288) sts.

Garter Swing Pullover Reviewed by Janine Stellick on 2011-01-28 *****
I have not made this sweater but I plan to after seeing it on a lady and asking her about it. It is so cute knitted up and I like the a-line look to it.
