Row 1 (wrong side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across – 15 sc. Fasten off A.
Row 2 (right side): Join B, ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across. Fasten off B.
Row 3: Join C, ch 3 (counts as first dc here and throughout), turn, dc in next 14 sc. Fasten
off C.
Row 4: Join D, ch 1, turn, sc in each dc across. Fasten off D.
Row 5: Join E, ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across. Fasten off E.
Row 6: Join A, ch 3, turn, dc in next 14 sc. Fasten off A.
Row 7: Join B, ch 1, turn, sc in each dc across. Fasten off B.
Row 8: Join E, ch 1, sc in each sc across. Fasten off E.
Row 9: Join F, ch 3, turn, dc in next 14 sc. Fasten off F.
Row 10: Join C, ch 1, turn, sc in each dc across. Fasten off C.

FINISHING
Strip #1 (make 5): Lay squares on a flat surface so first square is oriented with Row 1 at
bottom, Row 14 at top and stripes running horizontally. Rotate second square 90 degrees clockwise so
that Row 1 is at left and Row 14 is at right and stripes are running vertically. Continue laying out
10 squares, alternating direction of stripes. With C sew squares together.
Strip #2 (make 5): Lay out another strip of 10 squares beginning with the stripes of the
first square running vertically and alternating horizontal and vertical stripes as in Strip #1. With
C sew squares together.
Lay out 10 strips, alternating strip #1 and strip #2. Sew strips together to make Afghan 10
squares wide by 10 squares long.
Border
From right side join C with sl st. Ch 1, sc evenly around outside edge of Afghan, working 3 sc in
each corner. Join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off. Weave in ends. |
