GAUGE:

16 sts + 22 rnds = 4 in. [10 cm] in St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd). When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

STITCH EXPLANATION:

PATTERN STITCH
K1, p1 Rib (over an even number of sts)
Row 1:
*K1, p1; rep from *.
Row 2: K the knits and p the purls.
Rep Row 2 for K1, p1 Rib.

NOTES:

Sleeves are worked back and forth in rows on circular needle, as if working on straight needles. Sweater body is worked in the round to underarm, then Sleeves are joined to work yoke.

SWEATER
SLEEVES (make 2)

Cast on 46 (46, 50, 50, 54) sts. Work in St st (k on RS, p on WS) in rows, back and forth on circular needle, until piece measures 1 1/2 in. [4 cm] (allow edge to roll slightly before measuring), end with a WS row.
Note: To increase 1 st at each side on a RS row: K1, k into front and then back of next st (kfb, increase of 1 st made), k to last 2 sts, kfb in next st, k last st.
Continue in St st, inc 1 st each side every 6 rows 0 (0, 0, 5, 4) times, every 8 rows 0 (4, 4, 3, 4) times, every 10 rows 0 (2, 2, 0, 0) times, then every 12 rows 4 (0, 0, 0, 0) times – 54 (58, 62, 66, 70) sts.
Work even until piece measures 12 1/2 (13, 13, 13 1/2, 14) in. [32 (33, 33, 34.5, 35.5) cm] from beg, end with a WS row. Bind off 7 (7, 7, 8, 9) sts at beg of next 2 rows. Place remaining 40 (44, 48, 50, 52) sts on a st holder.

BODY
Cast on 124 (140, 156, 172, 188) sts. Place marker and join, being careful not to twist sts. Place second marker after 62 (70, 78, 86, 94) sts. Work in St st in the rnd (k every rnd) until piece measures 3 (3 1/2, 4, 4 1/2, 4 1/2) in. [7.5 (9, 10, 11.5, 11.5) cm] (allow edge to roll slightly before measuring).
Next Rnd (Inc Rnd): K1, kfb, k to 2 sts before marker, kfb, k1, slip marker, k 1, kfb, k to 2 sts before end of rnd, kfb, k1 – 128 (144, 160, 176, 192) sts. Continue in St st working Inc Rnd every 12 rnds twice more – 136 (152, 168, 184, 200) sts. Work even until piece measures 14 (14 1/2, 15, 15 1/2, 15 1/2) in. [35.5 (37, 38, 39.5, 39.5) cm] from beg.
Shape Armholes
Next Rnd:
*K to 6 (6, 6, 7, 8) sts before marker, bind off 12 (12, 12, 14, 16) sts, rep from * once more, k to end of rnd – 112 (128, 144, 156, 168) sts.
Join Sleeves

Finished in a week. Easy to knit. I used acrylic worsted soft yarn. It fits perfect. I blocked the sweater when done. It looks great. Will knit another
