BAG
With A, cast on 45 stitches. Work in
Stockinette stitch (knit on right side,
purl on wrong side) until piece measures
6 in. [15 cm] from beginning. Change to
B and work in Stockinette stitch until
piece measures 12 in. [30.5 cm] from
beginning. Change to C and work in
Stockinette stitch until piece measures
36 in. [91.5 cm] from beginning. Bind
off.
HANDLE CASING (make 2)
With C, cast on 23 stitches. Work in
Stockinette stitch for 40 rows. Bind
off.
FINISHING
Fold Bag in half and sew side seams.
Weave in ends.
FELTING
Place pieces into a mesh laundry bag
or zippered pillowcase. Wash by machine
on a hot wash/cold rinse cycle with
detergent and several pieces of clothing
to agitate. To felt additionally, dry by
machine on a regular setting until
almost dry. Remove from dryer and pull
into shape.
Fold Handle Casing in half over one
handle. Sew casing, centered, inside
upper edge of one side of Bag. Repeat
for second handle. |
