Urban Flair Beret
Lion Brand® Festive Fur - Microspun
GAUGE: 24 sts + 28 rnds = 4 in. [10 cm] in k 1, p 1 rib with B on smaller needle. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

I think there may be an error in the instructions: after joining the furry yarn, pattern says work even for 6 rows.
I think you may have meant 6 inches instead since 6 rows only comes to about 1 inch, and is not enough length to achieve that pouf that your picture shows.
After changing the work even portion of the instructions, I did find that the hat looks like the picture, and I just love this hat.
I'll be making several more in different colors. It's very flattering to my face, as well as warm and very cool looking.
And yes, I do live in an urban setting, and I appreciate some more sophisticated designs other than the usual town and country look.
