GAUGE: 12 dc + 10 rows = 5 in. [12.5 cm]. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

BOLERO
BACK
Ch 36 (40, 45, 50, 55, 60).
Row 1 (RS): Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across – 34 (38, 43, 48, 53, 58) dc
(beg ch counts as dc).
Rows 2-3: Ch 3 (counts as dc), turn, dc in each dc across.
Row 4 (Inc Row): Ch 3, turn, dc in dc at base of ch-3 - inc made, dc in each dc across
to last dc, 2 dc in last dc – 36 (40, 45, 50, 55, 60) dc.
Rep last three rows 8 (8, 8, 8, 9, 9) times – 52 (56, 61, 66, 73, 78) dc.
AT THE SAME TIME, when piece measures 7 (7, 7, 7, 8, 8) in. [18 (18, 18, 18, 20.5, 20.5) cm]
place a marker each side for armholes.
Rep Row 2 until piece measures 8 (8, 8½, 9, 9½, 10) in. [20.5 (20.5, 21.5, 23, 24, 25.5) cm]
from armhole markers.
Shape Shoulders
Mark center 12 (14, 15, 16, 15, 16) sts for back neck.
Row 1: Turn, sl st over 5 (7, 8, 9, 10, 11) dc, ch 1, hdc in next st, dc across to last
7 (9, 10, 11, 12, 13) dc, hdc in next dc, ch 1, sl st in next dc, sk remaining dc.
Row 2: Turn, sl st over hdc and next 5 (6, 7, 7, 9, 9) sts, ch 1, hdc in next st, dc
across to last 7 (9, 10, 11, 12, 13) dc, hdc in next st, ch 1, sl st in next st. Skip
remaining dc. Fasten off.

LEFT FRONT
Ch 10 (12, 14, 17, 20, 24).
Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across – 8 (10, 12, 15, 18, 22) dc (beg
ch counts as dc). Mark end of row for neck edge, opposite is arm edge.
Continue in dc and inc 1 st at arm edge every 3rd row a total of 9 (9, 9, 9, 10, 10) times. AT
THE SAME TIME, inc 1 st at neck edge every other row 9 times and then when piece measures same
as back to armhole, place markers for armholes and decrease 1 st at neck edge every row 4
times, then every other row 4 (3, 3, 4, 3, 5) times. Work until piece measures same length as
Back to shoulders, end with a WS row.
Shape Shoulders
Next Row (RS): Turn, sl st over 5 (7, 8, 9, 10, 11) dc, ch 1, hdc in next st, dc across to
last 7 (9, 10, 11, 12, 13) dc, hdc in next dc, ch 1, sl st in next dc, sk remaining dc. Fasten
off.
RIGHT FRONT
Work as for Left Front reversing shaping.

SLEEVE
Ch 28 (28, 30, 32, 34, 36).
Row 1 (RS): Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across – 26 (26, 28, 30, 32, 34) dc
(beg ch counts as dc).
Rows 2-3: Ch 3 (counts as dc), turn, dc in each dc across.
Row 4 (Inc Row): Ch 3, turn, dc in dc at base of ch-3 - inc made, dc in each dc across
to last dc, 2 dc in last dc – 28 (28, 30, 32, 34, 36) dc.
Rep last 3 rows 5 more times – 38 (38, 40, 42, 44, 46) dc.
Rep Row 2 until piece measures 10 in. [25.5 cm] from beg. Fasten off.
FINISHING
Sew shoulders. Sew in Sleeves Sew side and Sleeve seams.
Edging: Join yarn with a sl st in front corner of neck, work 1 round sc evenly spaced
around neck, front and bottom edges, join with sl st to first ch.
Next Rnd (WS): Ch 4, turn, * (wrap yarn around hook 3 times, insert hook in same sp,
pull up a loop, yo and through 2 loops twice – 3 loops left on hook) 5 times, yo and through
all loops on hook, skip 2 sc, sc in next sc, rep from * around, join with sl st in beg ch.
Fasten off.
Work 2 rnds of Edging around cuff of each Sleeve.
Weave in ends.
