GAUGE: 16 sts + 21 rows = 4 in. [10 cm] in K 1, p 1 ribbing. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

PATTERN STITCH
K 1, p 1 Rib
Row 1: *K 1, p 1, rep from * across.
Row 2: K the k sts and p the p sts.
Repeat Rows 1 and 2 for K 1, P 1 Ribbing. |

SCARF
* With 1 strand of A and 1 strand of B held together, cast on 20 sts. Work in K 1, p1 Rib for 2
1/2 in. [6.5 cm].
Cut A and continue in ribbing with B only for 5 in. [12.5 cm].
Change to 1 strand of C and 1 strand of D held tog and work as established for 2˝ in. [6.5 cm].
Cut C and continue with D only for 5 in. [12.5 cm].
Change to 1 strand of E and 1 strand of F held tog and work for 2˝ in. [6.5 cm].
Cut E and continue with F only for 5 in. [12.5 cm].
Change to 1 strand of G and 1 strand of H held tog and work for 2˝ in. [6.5 cm].
Cut G and continue with H only for 5 in. [12.5 cm].
Change to 1 strand of I and 1 strand of J held tog and work for 2˝ in. [6.5 cm].
Cut I and continue with J only for 5 in. [12.5 cm].
Change to 1 strand of K and 1 strand of L held tog and work for 2˝ in. [6.5 cm].**
Cut K and continue with L only for 30 in. [76 cm].
Repeat from ** to * working stripe pattern in reverse. Bind off.
FINISHING

| What a great scarf! It was fun and easy to knit and looks great. I was able to get some Olive Fun Fur off Ebay and used shocking pink and aqua for the Jiffy substitues. I did not follow the pattern to the letter, I made all the blocks (Jiffy and Fur) the same length. The finished length on my scarf is about 11', the pattern makes a scarf about 10', so it is very long and may require adjusting if it is to be knitted for a petite person. I loved knitting this scarf and everyone who sees it likes it and a friend even wanted the pattern for herself! I will likely make this scarf again, perhaps trying out some other colors.
