GAUGE:

10 sts + 13 rows = 4 in. [10 cm] in St st (k on RS, p on WS) with larger needles. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Everyone's Favorite Cardigan Reviewed by Liz Sushereba on 2011-09-25 *****
This is a great all around starter pattern. It works up fast for beginners and is easily modified for the more experienced. I agree with another's review that the arms are short. I usually shorten arms for myself but didn't because of the review and am glad I didn't. They are perfect for my short arms. So anyone who is average to tall should add an inch or two. One more thing. I didn't use nearly the amount of yarn it called for. I couldn't decide whether to make the 1x or 2x and knew I was adding a cable pattern to the sleeves, pockets, and trim, so went with the 12 skeins. I ended up making the 1x and I didn't even use 8! I made a matching hat and still have 4 skeins left.
