GAUGE:

Rnds 1-3 of Afghan = 5 in. [12.5 cm]. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Chocolate-covered Cherries Afghan Reviewed by JoAnn Clark on 2012-01-02 *****
I made this afghan for one of my sisters for Christmas and she loved it! Better yet - I enjoyed working the pattern too. ;) I made the blanket using Oat for A, Camel Spray for B, and Espresso for C to keep things neutral in color. As with any afghan that's worked from the center-out, the last rounds/rows feel endless, but it's worth it!

Just a few notes I made for myself that others might find helpful:

1) Even though the varigated Jiffy color (camel spray) had ~20 yds less per ball, the amounts listed in the pattern were sufficient.

2) I crochet a bit tight, so I required a M-9mm hook to meet the gauge.

3) I added a quick edge to the blanket using a crab stitch (reverse sc) using C. I made one reverse sc in each dc and one reverse sc in each space around the edge of the afghan. (3 reverse sc in each corner too.)
