GAUGE: 12 single crochet and 15 rows = 5 in. [12.5 cm] before felting. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

BAG
Chain 103. Slip stitch in beginning chain to form a ring.
Round 1: Chain 1, single crochet in each chain around. Slip stitch in beginning single crochet to join – 103 single crochet.
Round 2: Chain 1, single crochet in each single crochet around. Slip stitch in beginning single crochet to join.
Repeat Round 2 until piece measures 34 in. [87 cm] from beginning. Fasten off.
STRAP (make 2)
Chain 8.
Row 1: Single crochet in 2nd chain from hook and in each chain across – 7 single crochet.
Row 2: Chain 1, turn, single crochet in each single crochet across.
Repeat Row 2 until piece measures 24 in. [61 cm] from beginning.
Fasten off.
FINISHING
Sew a Strap inside Bag at one open end. Sew this end shut. Sew 2nd strap at opposite end of Bag.
Weave in ends.
FELTING
Wash by machine on a hot wash/cold rinse cycle with detergent and several pieces of clothing to agitate. To felt additionally, dry by machine on a regular setting until almost dry. Remove from dryer and pull into shape. Allow to dry completely. |
