GAUGE: Square = 6 in. [15.25 cm]. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Rnd 2: Ch 4 (counts as dc, ch 1), dc between next 2 dc, (ch 1, dc) 3 times in next ch-3 sp, * (ch 1, dc between next 2 dc) twice, (ch 1, dc) 3 times in next ch-3 sp, rep from * around, end ch 1, join with sl st in 3rd ch of ch-4. Fasten off B. Join F in last ch-1 sp made.
Rnd 3: Ch 3 (counts as beg dc), dc in same space, (2 dc in next ch-1 sp) 3 times, * ch 2 – corner made, (2 dc in next ch-1 sp) 5 times, rep from * around, ch 2, work 2 dc in last ch-1 sp, join with sl st in top of ch-3. Fasten off F. Join E between any 2 dc.

Join Squares randomly to create patchwork effect. With A, sew Squares into 10 strips of 10 Squares each. Join strips to make Blanket.
Border
From right side, join A at any corner space of Blanket.
Rnd 1: Ch 3, dc evenly around Blanket working (dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in each corner. Join with sl st in top of beg dc. Turn.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in each dc around, working 4 sc in each corner, join with sl st in beg ch. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
