GAUGE:
8 sts + 7 rows = 4 in. [10 cm] in Short Row Pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION:
Short Row Pattern
Row 1: Knit to end. Row 2: Purl to end. Row 3: Knit 15 (17, 19), turn. Row 4: Slip 1 stitch, purl to end. Row 5: Knit 10 (12, 14), turn. Row 6: Slip 1 st, purl to end.
Repeat Rows 1-6 for Short Row Pattern.
COLLAR
