STITCH EXPLANATION: STRIPE PATTERN
With A, work in Stockinette stitch for 10 rows.
With B, work in Stockinette stitch for 2 rows. |
NOTES: GAUGE: 12 stitches = 4 in. [10 cm] in Stockinette stitch (knit on right side, purl on wrong side) before felting. Exact gauge is not essential for this project.

BAG
With A, cast on 39 stitches. Working back and forth on circular needle (as if
working on straight needles) work in Stockinette stitch (knit on right side,
purl on wrong side) in Stripe Pattern for 156 rows. With A, work 10 more rows in
Stockinette stitch. Bind off.
HANDLES (make 2)
With A, cast on 7 stitches. *Do not turn work. Slide stitches to other end of
needle and, pulling yarn across back of work, knit across. Repeat from * until
handle is 40 in. [101 cm] long. Bind off.
FINISHING
Fold Bag in half and sew side seams. Sew one Handle to front of Bag, one to
back, 5 in. [12.5 cm] from sides and 3 in. [7.5 cm] below top edge. Weave in
ends.
FELTING
Place piece into a mesh laundry bag or zippered pillowcase. Wash by machine
on a hot wash/cold rinse cycle with detergent and several pieces of clothing to
agitate. To felt additionally, dry by machine on a regular setting until almost
dry. Remove from dryer and pull into shape.
When piece is completely dry, fold bottom corners up to side seams and sew in
place.

| After making this bag, according to the directions, I remade, increasing to twice the width, and shortening the straps. The first one, according to the direction was too small and the straps were way to long. Love my second one! I chose balck & teal.
