GAUGE:
14 stitches + 24 rows = 4 in. [10 cm] in Garter stitch (knit every row) with 1 strand of A and 1 strand of C held together. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION:
STRIPE PATTERN
Work 6 rows with 1 strand of A and 1 strand of C.
Work 4 rows with 1 strand of A and 1 strand of D.
Work 6 rows with 1 strand of A and 1 strand of C.
Work 6 rows with 1 strand of B and 1 strand of C.
Work 4 rows with 1 strand of B and 1 strand of D.
BLANKET
With 1 strand of A and 1 strand of C held together, cast on 105 stitches. Work in Garter stitch
(knit every row) in Stripe Pattern until piece measures 34 in. [86.5 cm] from beginning. Bind off.
FINISHING
Weave in ends.

I love making this blanket for newborns! It's so soft and they always need something to cuddle up with. I made one change though. I added one more step to the stripe pattern. I worked 6 rows with 1 strand B and 1 strand C. The stripes made more sense to me that way. Easy and fun!
