Crochet Motif IX: Six-pointed Star
Lion Brand® Lion® Wool
GAUGE: Motif = 5 in. [12.75 cm] diameter. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

This was my first "Easy" pattern. It seemed pretty simple, although I was confused by "skip next two sts and sl in the next sc". I started off my first point with what I thought was a sl in the next sc, and it turned out to have awkwardly big gaps between the points. I ended up needing seven points.
I believe the pattern is fine, but as I am self-taught (with the help of the learning center), perhaps we could have a section on "sl in the next sc?"
Thanks!
nancy
p.s. I used an acrylic yarn, and my gauge wasn't exact. perhaps that had something to do with my problems.
