GAUGE:

Motif = 5 in. [12.75 cm] square. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

MOTIF V
Ch 5, sl st in beg ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc), work 15 dc in ring, join with sl st in top of beg ch – 16 dc.
Rnd 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in same st, dc in next dc, (3 dc in next dc, dc in next dc) around, join with sl st in top of beg ch – 32 dc.
Rnd 3: Ch 3, (3 dc in next dc, dc in next 3 dc) around, end last repeat (3 dc in next dc, dc in each of next 2 dc), join with sl st in top of beg ch – 48 dc.
Rnd 4: Ch 3, dc in next dc, (3 dc in next dc, dc in each of next 3 dc) around, end last repeat (3 dc in next dc, dc in next dc), join with sl st in top of beg ch – 72 dc. Fasten off.

FINISHING
Weave in ends.
