Radiant Circle Throw

GAUGE:

10 sts + 16 rnds = 4 in. [10 cm] in St st (k every rnd) on larger needle. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

NOTES:

Throw is worked from the center out, first in rows, then in rnds. Change to circular needle when necessary to accommodate number of stitches. Beginning with Rnd 11, the pattern is 1 increase rnd followed by 3 knit rnds.

THROW
With A and 2 dpn, cast on 6 sts, leaving an 8 in. [20.5 cm] tail.
Row 1 (RS): Knit tbl of each st.
Row 2: Knit in back and front of each st – 12 sts.
Rows 3-5: Knit.
Row 6: Knit in back and front of each st – 24 sts.
Row 7: Knit, placing a marker after every 3rd st.
Divide sts evenly onto 4 dpns. Place contrasting marker to indicate beg of rnd. Join, being careful not to twist sts.
Rnds 8-9: Knit.
Change to B.
Rnd 10: With B, knit.
Rnd 11 (Inc Rnd): (K 1, yo, k 1, yo, k 1, slip marker) around – 40 sts, 5 sts between markers.
Rnds 12-14: Knit.
Rnd 15 (Inc Rnd): (K 2, yo, k 1, yo, k 2, slip marker) around – 56 sts, 7 sts between markers.
Change to C.
Rnds 16-18: With C, knit.
Change to D.
Rnd 19 (Inc Rnd): With D, (k 2, yo, k 3, yo, k 2, slip marker) around – 72 sts, 9 sts between markers.

FRINGE
From RS with crochet hook, join A with a slip stitch to outside edge of Throw. *(Chain 40, skip 2 sts, slip st in next st) 7 times (7 fringes), fasten off. Rep from * around entire outside edge of Throw, using each of the 12 colors twice.

FINISHING
With beg tail, sew seam at center of Throw. Weave in ends.

I love this pattern. The pattern is easy to memorize so it's great to work on while watching tv or if you are like me and like to knit under the table while in boring meetings. The other thing I like about it is that you can use any colors you want, make the stripes narrower or wider...I've made several of these throws and all have been different because I choose a few skeins of homespun in colors I like together and just start knitting away! Currently I'm working this pattern with leftover remnants of various colors that I used for other projects.
