GAUGE:

10.25 sts + 10 rows = 4 in. [10 cm] in Double Stitch Pattern with A. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Wee Hooded Poncho Reviewed by Karen Poole on 2009-08-30 *****
I LOVE using homespun to crochet items, especially baby things, it is so soft to put on baby and to work with. If you try to use it with a too small hook, it becomes too hard, or if you pull your stitches too tight. I LOVE this little poncho, I have made others, but this one by far is the cutest!
