CORRECTIONS: (applied Sep 14, 2012)
PONCHO
With A, ch 40 (48, 48) 60 (72, 72) loosely, to measure about 20 (24, 24) in. [51 (61, 61) cm] when slightly stretched. Being careful not to twist, sl st in beg ch to form a ring.

Rnd 3: Join next color with sl st in sp between beg 2 shells, ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, * 3 dc in each of next 4 (5, 5) sp between shells, (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in next sp for corner, rep from * 3 more times, except omit last corner, instead make 3 dc in same sp as beg to complete back point, ch 1, sl st in top of beg ch, fasten off - 24 (28, 28) shells. Mark ch-1 sp at center of 1st and 3rd corners for sides, move markers up each round.
Notes:
1. Your piece should now have four (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) corners.
2. The last corner completed, by working 3 dc in same sp as beg, is the back point.
3. The first corner is a side corner, the second corner is the front point, and the third corner is the 2nd side corner.
4. You should have markers in each of the side corners.
5. In Rnds 4 and 5 you will work a (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) corner in the front and back points only. You will work 3-dc shells in all the other spaces between shells, including the ch-1 sps at the side corners. This means that you will work a total of 2 more shells in each of Rnds 4 and 5.
6, In Rnd 6 you will work a (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) corner in the front and back AND in each marked side corner. You will work 3-dc shells in all the other spaces between shells. This means you will work 4 more shells in Rnd 6.

Lion Brand® Wool-Ease®

GAUGE:

4 shells = 5 in. [12.75 cm], 5 rows of shells = 3 in. [7.5 cm].

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Playtime Poncho Reviewed by Melissa Wass on 2013-07-16 *****
Made one, working on a second. With the corrections, I had no problems and I love the way the poncho looks. I used worsted weight yarn, just odds and ends left over from other projects. My nieces are going to enjoy these!
