Fuzzy Turtleneck

Lion Brand® Moonlight Mohair

GAUGE:

9 sts = 4 in. [10 cm] in St st (k on RS, p on WS) with larger needles. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Fuzzy Turtleneck Reviewed by J Lorien on 2009-06-06 ****
This is harder than it looks. I think it's because the measuring has to be done while garment is being held up (it really stretches in length.) I recommend making the shorter version. I did some ribbing (instead of all stockinette, and with smaller needles)on the base and a few rows around the armholes, as well as making the collar somewhat shorter and in ribbing. I think a bit of ribbing helps the armholes not sag so much, and starting with ribbing just looks better to me. I also seamed it with a smooth, lightweight yarn in matching color. It's cute and fuzzy, but it's kind of hard to get it to fit like it does on the model. I like it, but holding it up against yourself for length when you're knitting it is important. BTW, I did do a swatch.
