GAUGE:

10 sts + 20 rows = 4” [10 cm] in Garter st (k every row). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

3-Needle Bind Off With RS tog, hold in one hand 2 needles with equal number of sts on each. With 3rd needle, knit together 1 st from each needle, *knit together 1 st from each needle, pass first st worked over 2nd to bind off; rep from * across to last st. Cut working yarn and pull through last st to secure.

BACK
Cast on 60 (64, 69, 74) sts. Work in Garter st for 10 (20, 20, 6) rows. Dec 1 st each end on next row, and then every 20th row 3 (3, 3, 4) more times – 52 (56, 61, 64) sts. Work even until piece measures 16 (17, 17, 17 1/4)” [40.5 (43, 43, 44) cm] from beg; end with a WS row.
Shape Armhole
Bind off 4 (4, 5, 5) sts at beg of next 2 rows – 44 (48, 51, 54) sts. Dec 1 st each end every other row 3 (4, 4, 5) times – 38 (40, 43, 44) sts. Work even until piece measures 24 (26, 27, 28)” [61 (66, 68.5, 71) cm] from beg; end with a WS row.
Shape Shoulder
Bind off 4 sts at beg of next 4 (6, 6, 6) rows, then 3 (0, 0, 0) sts at beg of next 2 rows. Bind off remaining 16 (16, 19, 20) sts.

LEFT FRONT
Cast on 34 (36, 38, 41) sts. Work in Garter st for 10 (20, 20, 6) rows. Dec 1 st at beg of next RS row, and then every 20th row 3 (3, 3, 4) more times – 30 (32, 34, 36) sts. Work even until piece measures same as Back to underarm; end with a WS row.
Shape Armhole and Collar
Bind off 4 (4, 5, 5) sts at beg of next RS row – 26 (28, 29, 31) sts. Cast on 1 st at beg of following WS row – 27 (29, 30, 32) sts. Dec 1 st at armhole edge every RS row 3 (4, 4, 5) times and, AT SAME TIME, inc 1 st for Collar at neck edge every 4th row 7 times – 31 (32, 33, 34) sts. Work even until piece measures 24 (26, 27, 28)” [61 (66, 68.5, 71) cm] from beg; end with a WS row.
Shape Shoulder
Bind off 4 sts at beg of next RS row 2 (3, 3, 3) times, then bind off 3 (0, 0, 0) sts at beg of next RS row once – 20 (20, 21, 22) sts.
Shape Short Row Collar
Next Row (WS) K 15, sl 1, turn.
Next Row (RS) Sl 1 with yarn in back, k 15.
Next Row K 20 (20, 21, 22).
Next Row K 20 (20, 21, 22).
Rep last 4 rows 2 more times. Work even until straight edge of Collar measures 3 (3, 3 1/2, 3 1/2)” [7.5 (7.5, 9, 9) cm] from shoulder bind off. Place sts on holder.

RIGHT FRONT
Work as for Left Front, reversing shaping.

SLEEVES
Cast on 28 (30, 32, 34) sts. Work in Garter st until piece measures 3” [7.5 cm] from beg.
Next Row (Turning Row) K 1, k2tog, knit to last 3 sts, k2tog, k 1 – 26 (28, 30, 32) sts.
Knit 2 rows. Inc 1 st each end every 12 (12, 8, 8) rows 7 (2, 3, 9) times, then every 0 (10, 10, 6) rows 0 (6, 6, 2) times – 40 (44, 48, 54) sts. Work even until piece measures 21” [53.5 cm] from beg.
Shape Cap
Bind off 4 (4, 5, 5) sts at beg of next 2 rows, then bind off 0 (2, 2, 2) sts at beg of next 2 rows – 32 (32, 34, 40) sts. Dec 1 st each end every other row 9 (10, 10, 13) times, then every 4th row 1 (0, 1, 0) times – 12 (12, 12, 14) sts. Bind off 1 st at beg of next 4 rows. Bind off remaining 8 (8, 8, 10) sts.

POCKET AND BELT – Make 2
Cast on 15 sts. Work in Garter st until Pocket measures 5” [12.5 cm]. Bind off 9 sts at beg of next row – 6 sts. Work even until Belt measures 18 (19, 20, 21)” [45.5 (48.5, 51, 53.5) cm]. Bind off.

FINISHING
Sew shoulder seams. Sew in Sleeves. Sew side and Sleeve seams. Sew Pockets onto Fronts, with Belt pointing toward the center front. Transfer Collar sts from holders onto needles and join using 3-needle bind off. Weave in ends.
