Crochet Newsboy Cap

Lion Brand« Wool-Ease« Thick & Quick«

GAUGE:

5 sc = 3 inches [7.5 cm] with larger hook.
7 rnds = 4 inches [10 cm] with larger hook.

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Crochet Newsboy Cap Reviewed by dawn jackson on 2014-10-05 ****
I love this pattern and when I first came across it a few years ago, I downloaded the pattern immediately. I made it w/no problem. A couple of yrs later, I wanted to make another one and for the life of me, I couldn't get it to come out right. The number of stitches after the end of each round after Round 4 would be off. I must've frogged the cap 6xs before I realized my mistake. As w/most crochet patterns, you really have to read the pattern carefully. For ex, when doing Round 4, after completing the 2nd 'sc in next sc' I incorrectly followed the "rep from *" to the inc in next sc. When actuality I needed to sc in first sc again. So Round 4 is actually: sc in first sc, inc in next sc, sc in next sc, sc in first sc. Once I realized I misread Round 4, I realized I misread other rounds like Round 8.
