Quick Stitch Jacket
Lion Brand® Mystery® - Trellis® - Wool-Ease®
GAUGE: 10 sts = 4" [10 cm] in Garter st (k every row). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES: Garment is worked sideways from cuff to cuff.

BODY
Starting at cuff, with 1 strand each of A and B held tog, cast on 24 sts.
Work in Garter st for 4" [10 cm]; end with a WS row.
Inc Row (RS) Knit into front and back of first st, knit to last st, knit
into front and back of last st – 26 sts
Rep Inc Row every 4th row 12 more times – 50 sts.
Cast on 2 sts at beg of next 8 rows – 66 sts; then cast on 8 sts at beg of
next 2 rows – 82 sts. Work even in Garter st until piece measures 4½"
[11.5 cm] from last cast-on edge; end with a WS row.
BACK
Work 41 sts; turn. Place remaining 41 sts on holder for Front. Work in
Garter st on first 41 sts for 7" [18 cm]; end with a RS row. Place sts on
holder.
LEFT FRONT
With RS facing, place Front sts onto needle and join 1 strand each of A and
B held tog.
Lower Edge and Neck Shaping
Dec 1 st at beg (lower edge) of every WS row 8 times. AT SAME TIME, bind off
2 sts at beg (neck edge) of every RS row 3 times, then dec 1 st at beg of every
RS row 5 times. Work 2 rows even. Bind off remaining 22 sts.
RIGHT FRONT
Starting at center front, with 1 strand each of A and B held tog, cast on 22
sts. Work 2 rows even in Garter st.
Neck and Lower Edge Shaping
Inc 1 st at beg (neck edge) of every RS row 5 times; then cast on 2 sts at
neck edge every other row 3 times. AT SAME TIME, inc 1 st at beg (lower edge) of
every WS row 8 times – 41 sts when all shaping is complete. Work even for
4½" [11 cm]; end with a WS row.
JOIN BACK AND FRONT
Continue across 41 sts of Back – 82 sts.
Bind off 8 sts at beg of next 2 rows; then bind off 2 sts at beg of following 8
rows – 50 sts.
Dec Row K2tog, k to last 2 sts, k2tog – 48 sts.
Rep Dec Row every 4th row 12 more times – 24 sts. Work even for 4" [10
cm]. Bind off.
FINISHING
With C, sew side and Sleeve seams. Weave in ends.
Optional With crochet hook and 2 strands of C held tog, work single
crochet evenly around all edges. |
