Cuddle Me Cap and Kimono

Lion Brand® Velvetspun

GAUGE:

Kimono: 10 stitches = 4 inches [10 cm] in Garter st (knit every row) on larger needles.
Cap:
9 stitches + 14 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in Stockinette st (knit on right side, purl on wrong side) on smaller needles. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Cuddle Me Cap and Kimono Reviewed by Christine Leger on 2011-04-23 ****
This yarn has no play so cast on/off must be very loose, and don't pull on it or it will break. I sewed the pieces together with doubled-up worsted to avoid this. The kimono ties looked awful and I crocheted 6" chain ties that turned out beautifully! The knot on the cap worked well due to the extra stitch. This project was very fast to complete and has wowed every one who has seen it - it will impress everyone at the baby shower!
