Cuddle Me Cap and Kimono
Lion Brand® Velvetspun
GAUGE: Kimono: 10 stitches = 4 inches [10 cm] in Garter st (knit every row) on
larger needles.
Cap: 9 stitches + 14 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in Stockinette st (knit on
right side, purl on wrong side) on smaller needles. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

BACK
With larger needles and A, cast on 20 sts. Work in Garter st until piece
measures 8 inches [20.5 cm] from beginning. Bind off. |

LEFT FRONT
With larger needles and A, cast on 12 sts. Work in Garter st until piece
measures 8 inches [20.5 cm] from beginning. Bind off.
RIGHT FRONT
With B, work as for Left Front.

LEFT SLEEVE
With larger needles and A, cast on 14 stitches. Work in Garter st until
piece measures 8 inches [20.5 cm] from beginning.
Bind off.
RIGHT SLEEVE
With B, work as for Left Sleeve.
FINISHING
Match bound-off edge of Back with bound-off edges of Right Front and
Left Front, right sides together. Sew 2 inches [5 cm] at each end of
bound-off edge together for shoulder seams. Match center of long side of
Sleeve to shoulder seam, right sides together. Sew Sleeves to body. Sew side
and Sleeve seams. Weave in ends.
EDGING
Join C to bottom of left side seam. With crochet hook, work slip stitch
around bottom hem, up Right Front edge, around neck, down Left Front edge,
and across bottom of Left Front. Join with slip stitch in first edging
stitch. Fasten off.
TIES – Make 4
With larger needles and C, cast on 2 stitches. Knit 2. *Slip stitches to
left needle (do not turn) and, pulling yarn across back of work, knit 2.
Repeat from * until cord measures 6 inches [15 cm]. Bind off. Sew Ties to
front edge of Kimono, placing 1 set 2½ inches [6.5 cm] from top edge and
the other set 2½ inches [6.5 cm] from bottom edge.

CAP
With smaller needles and C, cast on 33 sts. Work in St st until piece
measures 4 inches [10 cm] from beginning, ending with a wrong side row.
CROWN
Decrease Row (right side) Knit 2 together, knit to end – 32 sts.
Purl 1 row.
Decrease Row (right side) K 1, *k 4, k2tog; repeat from *, end k 1 – 27
sts.
Purl 1 row.
Decrease Row K 1, *k 3, k2tog; repeat from *, end k 1 – 22 sts.
Purl 1 row.
Decrease Row K 1, * k 2, k2tog; repeat from *, end k 1 – 17 sts.
Purl 1 row.
Decrease Row K 1, * k 1, k2tog; repeat from *, end k 1 – 12 sts.
Purl 1 row.
Decrease Row * K2tog; repeat from *– 6 sts.
Next Row *Purl 2 together; repeat from *– 3 sts.
Top Knot Cord
Continue to k every row on 3 sts, at end of row slipping sts back onto
left-hand needle (as for kimono ties) to work next row, until cord measures 5
inches [12.5 cm].
Last Row K 1, k2tog, pass the k st over the k2tog st. Fasten off.
Sew back seam. Weave in ends. |

| This yarn has no play so cast on/off must be very loose, and don't pull on it or it will break. I sewed the pieces together with doubled-up worsted to avoid this. The kimono ties looked awful and I crocheted 6" chain ties that turned out beautifully! The knot on the cap worked well due to the extra stitch. This project was very fast to complete and has wowed every one who has seen it - it will impress everyone at the baby shower!
