GAUGE:

7 sts + 8 rows = 3" [7.5 cm] in pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

NOTES:

Belt is worked with 1 strand each of A and B held together throughout.

BELT

Holding both brass rings tog, join 1 strand each of A and B in both rings. Row 1 (right side) Ch 1, work 7 sc over rings; turn – 7 sc. Row 2 Ch 1, sc in first sc, *ch 1, skip next sc, slip st in next sc; repeat from * once, ch 1, skip next sc, sc in last sc; turn – 3 ch1-spaces. Row 3 Ch 1, sc in each st and each ch1-space across; turn – 7 sc. Row 4 Ch 1, sc in first sc, *ch 1, skip next sc, sc in next sc; repeat from * across; turn – 3 ch1-spaces. Rows 5-100 Repeat Rows 3-4 (48 times or for desired length). Row 101 Ch 1, skip first sc, sc in each sc and each ch1-space across to last st; turn, leaving remaining st unworked – 5 sc. Row 102 Ch 1, skip first sc, sc in each of next 3 sc, slip st in last st – 3 sc. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
