Knit Twilight Clutch
Lion Brand® Lion® Suede
GAUGE: 15 sts + 20 rows = 4 in. [10 cm] in St st (knit on right side, purl on wrong side) with larger needles. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: | Loop Knit next st; leave on left needle. With new st (loop) on right needle, bring yarn to front between needles (between st on left and loop on right); wrap yarn under left thumb to back of work (again between needles) forming a large Loop. Knit first st on left needle again, dropping st from left needle. Pass second st on right needle over first, securing Loop. Note: Loops need not be consistent in size |

CLUTCH
With larger needles, cast on 43 sts.
Rows 1-8: Beginning with a knit row, work in St st.
Row 9 (RS): *K 1, make Loop in next st; repeat from * to last st, k 1.
Row 10: Purl.
Rows 11-16: Repeat Rows 9-10.
Rows 17-84: Continue in St st.
Rows 85-168: Change to smaller needles, and continue in St st.
Bind off.
FINISHING
Fold piece in half with RS together (Loops will be on inside). Seam side and end of flap seams, leaving a 2 in. [5 cm] opening. Turn to RS. Roll up foam and insert in opening, easing foam to fit.
Sew opening closed. Fold Pouch end (2/3 of piece) in half with RS together; sew side seams. Weave in ends. |

| Knit Twilight Clutch Reviewed by Stephanie Davis on 2012-03-10 |
     |
| I downsized needles one size, and reduced the stitches to 33 instead of 43. My finished clutch was 11-inches wide by 6-inches deep. The instructions should state to fold in half at the row where the knitter switches to the smaller needle (I marked that row with Lion Brand row markers). I also decided to insert foam in the entire piece and cut the craft foam 11x18-inches (flipped up 6-inches and seamed the sides, leaving a 6-inch flap), so that the flap also was more substantial in feel than per instructions. For my next clutch I will increase the number of loop rows from the described four to about eight as is depicted in the pattern photo. Please correct Row 9 instructions: move asterisk to after "K1," so that a loop is created for each stitch until the last K1. After this problem-solving, I really liked my finished product! Bring back Lion Suede!
