GAUGE:

Square = 12" x 12" [30.5 x 30.5 cm]. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Crochet Great Granny Throw Reviewed by Shelley Daley on 2012-07-20 *****
I am working this afghan as a gift for a new grandma. I'm using Vanna's Choice solids in linen, burgundy, aqua, and dusty purple. It's a great looking, quick and easy granny pattern and I love the color combo!Using an H hook with the Vanna's Choice which is lighter weight than Jiffy. Can't wait to see the final result.
