BASE TRIANGLES
Cast on 24 sts loosely. *P 2, turn and k 2, turn and p 3, turn and k 3, turn and p 4, turn and k 4. Continue in this manner, working 1 more st on every purl (WS) row, until 12 sts have been purled; repeat from * – 2 Base Triangles.
FIRST ROW OF RECTANGLES Edge Triangle K 2, turn and p 2, turn, inc 1, ssk, turn and p 3, turn, inc 1, k 1, ssk, turn and p 4, turn, inc 1, k 2, ssk, turn and p 5, turn, inc 1, k 3, ssk, turn and p 6. Continue in this manner, working 1 more st on every RS row, until 12 sts have been worked on the RS.
Rectangle *Pick up and knit 12 sts evenly spaced along edge of Base Triangle. (Turn and p 12, turn and k 11, ssk) 12 times.
dge Triangle Pick up and knit 12 sts evenly spaced along edge of last Base Triangle. Turn and p2tog, p 10, turn and k 11, turn and p2tog, p 9, turn and k 10, turn and p2tog, p 8, turn and k 9. Continue in this manner, decreasing 1 st each WS row, until 1 Edge Triangle st remains on right needle.
SECOND ROW OF RECTANGLES
First Rectangle With WS facing, pick up and purl 11 sts evenly spaced along edge of triangle just worked – 12 sts. (Turn and k 12, turn and p 11, p2tog) 12 times.
Second Rectangle Pick up and purl 12 sts evenly spaced along side of rectangle. (Turn and k 12, turn and p 11, p2tog) 12 times.
THIRD ROW OF RECTANGLES
Work as for First Row Of Rectangles, picking up sts along edges of Rectangles rather than Base Triangles.
FOURTH THROUGH NINTH ROWS OF RECTANGLES
Repeat Second and Third Rows Of Rectangles 3 times.
FINAL ROW OF TRIANGLES
*With WS facing, pick up and purl 11 sts evenly spaced along edge of triangle just worked. Turn and k 12, turn and p2tog, p 9, p2tog, turn and k 11, turn and p2tog, p 8, p2tog, turn and k 10, turn and p2tog, p 7, p2tog. Continue in this manner until 3 sts remain on right needle.
Next Row (WS) (P2tog) twice, turn and k 2, turn and p 1, p2tog, p 1, turn and k 3, turn and p3tog. Repeat from *, picking up sts along side of rectangle. Fasten off remaining st.
FINISHING
Join yarn to right corner of 1 long side. Single crochet into 2 rows tog (catching 2 knitted rows in each st) across this side, gathering it for neck edge. Continue to single crochet evenly spaced along remaining outside edge of piece. Single crochet 1 more round.
Buttonhole Chain 4 sts, skip 3 sts, join with slip st and fasten off.
BUTTON
Leaving a 6" [15 cm] tail, cast on 5 sts. Work in St st for 7 rows. Bind off, leaving a 12" [30.5 cm] tail. Thread longer tail through all outside sts and rows, then pull tight and tie with cast-on strand. At top left front, opposite buttonhole, thread 2 loose strands through Capelet and tie tightly. Weave in ends. |
