GAUGE: 13 sts + 16 rows = 4” [10 cm] in K1, P1 Rib with 2 strands of yarn held tog. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES: Use 1 strand each of A and B held together throughout.

BACK
With 1 strand each of A and B held tog, cast on 58 (64, 70) sts. Work in K1, P1 Rib for 10 (10 1/2, 11)" [25.5 (26.5, 28) cm]. Shape Armhole Bind off 6 sts at beg of next 2 rows, then 1 st at beg of next 4 (6, 8) rows – 42 (46, 50) sts. Work even in rib until armhole measures 7 (7 1/2, 8)” [18 (19, 20.5) cm].
Shape Neck and Shoulders Work in rib across 9 (11, 13) sts; turn. Working on only these sts, bind off 1 st at neck edge every other row twice. AT SAME TIME, bind off at shoulder edge 2 sts 2 (0, 0) times, 3 sts 1 (3, 1) time(s), and 4 sts 0 (0, 2) times. Fasten off. Join yarn at neck edge and bind off 24 sts loosely. Work neck and shoulder shaping as for first side.
FRONT Work as for Back.
SLEEVES
With 1 strand each of A and B held tog, cast on 30 (32, 34) sts. Work in K1, P1 Rib and inc 1 st each end every 8th row 9 times (working incs into pattern) – 48 (50, 52) sts. Work even in rib until piece measures 21 (21 1/2, 22)” [53.5 (54.5, 56) cm]. Shape Cap Bind off 2 sts at beg of next 8 rows. Bind off remaining 32 (34, 36) sts.
FINISHING
Sew Front to Back at shoulder seams. Sew in Sleeves. Sew side and Sleeve seams. Weave in ends. |
