Frill Seeker Pullover

Lion Brand® Microspun

24 sts + 32 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS) using larger needle.

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

3-Needle Bind Off With RS together, hold in one hand 2 needles with equal number of sts on each. With 3rd needle, knit together 1 st from each needle, *knit together 1 st from each needle, pass first st worked over 2nd to bind off, repeat from * across to last st. Cut working yarn and pull through last st to secure.

With smaller needle and MC, cast on 77 (85, 93) sts. Work 6 (8, 8) rows in K1, P1 Rib. Change to larger needle and St st, inc 1 st each end of first row – 79 (87, 95) sts. Work even in St st until piece measures 11 1⁄2 (14, 16 1⁄2)” from beg, ending with a WS row.

Shape Neck K 25 (28, 31) sts; join a second ball of yarn, k center 29 (31, 33) sts and place on holder; work remaining sts. Working both sides at same time, dec 2 sts at each neck edge once, then 1 st twice – 21 (24, 27) sts remain on each shoulder. Work even until Back measures 12 1⁄2 (15, 17 1⁄2) inches from beg. Place sts on holders.

Work as for Back until piece measures 10 1⁄2†(13, 15 1⁄2) inches from beg, ending with a WS row.

Shape Neck Work as for Back. When Front measures same as Back to shoulders, place sts on holders.

Join shoulders using 3-needle bind off. Place markers 6 (6 1⁄2, 7)” down from shoulder seams for Sleeve placement. With larger needle and RS facing, pick up and k 72 (78, 84) sts evenly spaced between markers.†Working in St st, dec 1 st each end every 4th row 18 (20, 22) times – 36 (38, 40) sts. Continue even until Sleeve measures 9 (10, 11)” from beg, ending with a RS row. P 1 row, dec 1 st at beg of row – 35 (37, 39) sts. Change to smaller needle and work 6 (8, 8) rows in K1, P1 Rib. Bind off in rib.

With RS facing and circular needle, beg at shoulder seam, pick up and k 96 (100, 104) sts evenly spaced around neck opening. Mark beg of round, and work 4 rounds in K1, P1 Rib. Bind off in rib.

RUFFLES – Make 5

Note† The center ruffle is worked first. There are 5 (6, 6) sts between the remaining ruffles, 2 on each side of the center. Mark the center front column of sts above the lower rib and below the neck band. With RS facing and CC, slip end of yarn through lower st to WS and draw up to neck band. Insert crochet hook into neck band st

from RS and pull up a loop, leaving a 6” tail inside. Place loop on larger knitting needle.

Continue inserting hook into the column of sts, pulling up a loop, and placing loop on needle until there are 54 (69, 78) sts evenly spaced. Knit 2 (3, 3) rows even.

Inc Row [K4, kf&b ,k3 ,kf&b] 2(5,2)times, [k3,kf&b] 8(5,14 )times, k4–66 (84, 96) sts.

Knit 2 (3, 3) rows even. *Bind off 3 sts, (yo, bind off 1 st) 3 times; repeat from * across, end bind off remaining sts.

Sew side and sleeve seams. Weave in ends.
