GAUGE:

12.75 dc + 8 rows = 4” [10 cm] with MC.

BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

1. Work with 1 strand each of CC 1 and CC2 held tog for collar.
2. It’s sometimes difficult to see the sts when working with furry yarn. For best results, count sts as you work each row to make sure you do not skip or miss a st.

TIES/NECKBAND

With MC, ch 7.
Row 1 Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across; turn – 5 sts.
Row 2 Ch 3, dc in each st across; turn. Repeat Row 2 for pattern st and work even until piece measures 16" [40.5 cm] from beg. Mark each side of last row for beg of neckband. Continue to work even until neckband measures 40" [101.5 cm] above marked row. Mark each side of last row for end of neckband. Continue to work even for 16" [40.5 cm]; piece should measure 72" [183 cm] from beg. Fasten off

BODY

Join MC with a slip st at a neckband marker.
Row 1 Ch 3, work 128 dc evenly spaced along neckband to next marker; turn – 129 sts. Work even in dc until Body measures 14 1/2" [37 cm] from beg (not including neckband). Fasten off.

COLLAR

With 1 strand each of CC1 and CC2 held tog, join yarns with a slip st at a neckband marker opposite Body.
Row 1 Ch 1, work 138 sc evenly spaced along neckband to next marker; turn. Work even in sc until Collar measures 8" [20.5 cm] from beg (not including neckband). Fasten off.
