Party Girl Jacket

Lion Brand® Fun Fur® - Wool-Ease®

16 sts + 20 rows = 4" (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS) with MC on larger needles. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

With MC and larger needles, cast on 50 (56, 60) sts. Work even in Garter st (k every row) until piece measures 5¾ (6¼, 6¾)" from beg.
Shape Square Armholes: Bind off 4 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Work even until armholes measure 5½ (6, 6½)". Bind off 10 (12, 14) sts for shoulder; work 22 (24, 24) sts for back of neck and place on holder; bind off remaining 10 (12, 14) sts.

Cast on 23 (26, 28) sts. Work as for Back until 5¾ (6¼, 6¾)" from beg, ending with a WS row.
Shape Square Armhole: On next row bind off 4 sts. Continue as established until armhole measures 4 (4½, 5)", ending with a RS row. Shape Neck Bind off 4 sts twice; then at same edge, decrease 1 st once (twice, twice) – 10 (12, 14) sts. Work even until armhole measures same as Back to shoulder. Bind off.

Work as for Left Front, reversing all shaping. With RS facing sew Fronts to Back at shoulders.

Pick up and k 44 (48, 52) sts between armhole bind-offs. Work even in Garter st for 1". Decrease 1 st each end every 4th row 10 (11, 12) times. Work even until Sleeve measures 9 (10, 11)" from beg, ending with a WS row. Change to CC and smaller needles. K 1 row decreasing 3 sts evenly spaced. Work 5 rows in K1, P1 Rib. On RS, bind off loosely as if to purl. Sew side and Sleeve seams

Neckband: With RS facing, using CC and smaller needles, pick up and k 59 (63, 63) sts evenly spaced around neck edge, including sts from holder. Work 5 rows in K1, P1 Rib. Bind off on RS as if to purl.

Waistband: With RS facing, using CC and smaller needles, pick up and k 99 (111, 119) sts evenly spaced across lower edge. Work 5 rows in K1, P1 Rib. Bind off loosely on RS as if to purl.

Left Front Buttonband: With RS facing, using CC and smaller needles, pick up and k 51 (53, 55) sts evenly along center Front. Work 5 rows in K1, P1 Rib. Bind off loosely on RS as if to purl.

Right Front Buttonhole Band: With RS facing, using CC and smaller needles, pick up and k 51 (53, 55) sts evenly along center Front. Work 2 rows in K1, P1 Rib. Work Buttonhole Row as follows: Rib 2 (1, 2) sts, work 2 together, yo, *rib 9 (10, 10) sts, work 2 together, yo; repeat from * 3 times more, end rib 3 (2, 3) sts. Keeping in Rib, work 2 rows more. Bind off on RS as if to purl.

It’s not so easy to find the RS and WS when working. If the Neckband is worked first, it is easier to spot which side you’re on.

Party Girl Jacket Reviewed by Lucy Perla on 2015-03-15 *****
This sweater called for 6 balls of yarn. It took 4 1/2 balls of yarn.
My gauge is right.
I am afraid to steam stetch the sweater.
I was thinking of laying a damp cloth over the sweater and stretching it a little to make it longer. It looks to short.
Anyone have any ideas?
