GAUGE: Please see the gauge in the downloadable pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

| I changed this pattern to make it easier to change colors. Chain a multiple of 6 plus 2. Change to color B with one chain. Sc in first stitch of color A. Ch 3. Continue with pattern to end, hdc in last st, changing color to C. Ch 1, turn. Sc in Hdc and cont with pattern. Every row beg with sc, ch3 and ends with 3 dc, 1 hdc. Only one pattern row, not two, same effect, only MUCH EASIER AND NEATER. It is really a good pattern for a lighter weight yarn because it becomes thick. It takes a lot more stitches and rows, though.
