GAUGE:

10 sts + 12 rows = 4" (10 cm) in single

BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

NOTES:

Use a separate bobbin or ball of yarn for each separate color area. To change color within row, work until 2 loops of last st of old color remain on hook, drop old color to wrong side; with new color, yarn over and draw through loops on hook to complete stitch, continue with new color.

AFGHAN

With A, ch 30; attach B and ch 30 more; attach another ball of A and ch 31 more. Row 1 (RS) With A, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 29 ch; with B, sc in next 30 ch; with A, sc in last 30 ch – 90 sc. Ch 1, turn. Continue to work in sc, following chart, starting with Row 2 and reading left to right on wrong side rows, right to left on right side rows. When chart is completed, fasten off.

FINISHING

Work with right side facing you. Matching colors, crochet a row of sc along each side edge, spacing sts to keep edges flat and smooth.

Border With B, work 5 rounds sc around Afghan, working 3 sc at each corner on each round. Fasten off.
