GAUGE:

12 sts + 17.25 rows = 4" (10 cm) in reverse St st (p on RS, k on WS). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

NOTES:

If you wish to avoid large blocks of color striping, knit 2 rows with one skein and two rows with another throughout.

Knit Flattering Jacket 2003 Reviewed by Elaine Goold on 2013-07-12 ****
I made this in Montana Sky and made a medium. It was my first knitting attempt past scarves and hats. Turned out beautifully, but was much too large for me. My granddaughter is quite a bit taller than I am and when I showed it her and said it was just too big for me, she begged me to let her have it. It fits her quite well and she loves the vibrant blue and how soft it is. I was thrilled a 16 year old wanted something I had made! I'm going to make another for myself in a small.
