GAUGE:

In pattern, 24 sts = 6¼" (16.5 cm) +  5 rows = 3" (7.5 cm). 

BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

ssk (slip, slip, knit):  Slip the next 2 sts as if to knit, one at a time, to right needle; insert left needle into fronts of these 2 sts and k them tog. sk2p (slip, k2tog, psso)  Slip 1 st as if to knit, k2tog, pass slipped st over.

Row 1  Ssk, k 9, yo, k 1, yo, *k 10, sk2p, k 10, yo, k 1, yo; rep from * to last 10 sts, k 8,  k2tog.

Row 2  Knit.
Following Color Sequence above, repeat Rows 1-2 until 219 rows have been completed.  
Bind off loosely, allowing bound-off edge to ripple as does cast-on edge.  Weave in ends.
