Crochet Alphabet Afghan
Lion Brand® Jiffy®
GAUGE: Please see the gauge in the downloadable pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

| Crochet Alphabet Afghan Reviewed by Amy Heestand on 2012-09-18 |

| This afghan is worked in 9 separate pieces, and then sewn together. The alphabet letters are crocheted in the design using a chart, not cross-stitched on later. There are no written instructions for the letters, it is all chart, so any charted alphabet within the given sizes would work to supply the missing letters. I would print out the page with the charts, take scissors to it, and shift the E to beside the D, the L and M to beside the K, and the P, Q, and R to beside the O, and chart the W, X, Y, and Z on the last long side. I would then adjust the length of the short panels and long panels to reflect the maximum stitches I needed; ie, if adding the P, Q, and R to a short panel required more stitches than adding the E to the opposite short panel, I would make both the longer length. I haven't tried this, but I think it's doable. I marked this a 3 because I would have used the entire alphabet, I would have done the afghan in one panel, long-side to long-side, then come down each short side with the other panels, including the corners blocks as I went, then done a border all around. I do not like sewing blocks together! Note: I do like the border one user put around the corners. It really sets them off.
