Lion Brand® Jiffy®

GAUGE:

10 sc + 12 rows = 4 inches (10 cm).

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

With MC, ch 76.  Sc into the 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across – 75 sts.  Ch 1, turn.

Work in sc, following chart.  When chart is complete, fasten off.

BORDER
With RS facing, join MC with a slip st in any corner.  Work 73 sc evenly spaced along
the top and bottom; 100 sc evenly spaced  along the sides; and 3 sc in each corner.  Break off MC.  Join C and work 5 rnds in sc, working 3 sc in each corner, each rnd.  Break off C.  Join MC, ch 1, work 1 sc in each of next 3 sc, *(ch 3, slip st in first ch) picot made, 1 sc in each of next 3 sc; rep from * around, adjusting sts so that picot is in each corner.

Join with slip st to beg ch.  Fasten off

Crochet Counting Sheep Afghan Reviewed by Meg Cummins on 2010-07-13 ****
works out to a beautiful blanket. i made it 10 stitches larger on both sides because it comes out more like a towel than a blanket otherwise. it needs a backing because the back shows the work, and it took me forever (i'm not that quick of a crafter) but my friend loved it.
