GAUGE:

8 sts and 12 rows = 4" in St st. TO INSURE PROPER SIZE, BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Knitted Chunky Cabled Bobble Sweater Reviewed by A Campbell on 2014-09-06 ****
Just finished this sweater-or, at least, a sweater based on the pattern. Made with Pound of Love doubled, and size 15 ndls. Don't bind off shoulders and neck, instead, save onto shoelaces and use 3-needle bindoff. Otherwise the weight of the sweater stretches out the neckline. Added waist and cuff ribbing at request of receiver. Yes, that's a sword on the front and an owl peeking out on the back.
