Neck Too Small

I, too, found that the neck opening was too small. I ended up undoing the shoulder seams and I added buttons and loops to close the opening. Other than that, the dress was true to size and it looks amazing on my granddaughter.

too much yarn

After twenty years of no major knitting projects I really enjoyed making this dress for my great granddaughter who is arriving any day now. My only concern is that although my gauge was right on I ended up with over 2 full skeins of yarn left over. I can see asking for 4 skeins ( I actually used a little over 2.75 skeins) but asking for 5 seemed an over kill.

I loved this pattern until I tried to pull it on over my granddaughter's head. I made the 18-mo size for my 12-month old. Imagine my dismay after all that work when it wouldn't even go half-way over her head. I pulled out the neckline and one shoulder and used a a ribbon to close the shoulder. The dress is very roomy on her with this adjustment, but the pattern is obviously badly designed in the neck/shoulder area.
