All patterns for cardigans are written in this manner. To reverse shaping means to work the shaping at the opposite ends from what you did for the first side. For example, you want your armhole shaping and decreases to be at opposite ends so that when it's sewn together you will have one armhole on the left and one on the right. The neck shaping must be on the inside of both pieces, where it would logically would be.

To reverse shaping, reverse the RS and WS rows. For example, if you are shaping at the beginning of a RS row on one front, you'll need to work the shaping at the beginning of a WS row on the other. You will be one row off but this will not matter.
