I really enjoyed working with the yarn and the pattern was easy. However, if you want to match the stripes, you may need to get another skein of yarn, which I had to do. I did two matching the stripes and one not matching stripes to the back, I did match the stripes in the front though. I do think it looks better with the matching stripes, so keep that in mind when buying your yarn.

I am an expert level knitter. I already knew I did not like knitting with Homespun yarn (except for the feel of it) but this new color is beautiful. It is!

Pattern: Although I shortened the jacket a bit, I got to the arms and thought - why go back and pick up stitches? So I just cast on more stitches than recommended, as I wanted a longer sleeve and I have long arms. That was fine. I did it in stockinette alternating with rib and it was still looking fine. I give pattern a 3. Doing rib stitch with Homespun (to me) is not a smooth ride.

The Homespun yarn is the frustrating part. I've knit for 20+ years, and all it does is split whether you use a blunt-type or pointier needle.

I recommend a different yarn and a couple pattern revisions.

Thanks so much!
