I had a go at this and the finished flower looks fine and has been made into a brooch. If I was making this again, I would alter the petal shape to make the ends more pointed.

However although the crochet part didn't take long, it took forever to sew everything together. Has someone come up with a poinsettia pattern yet that can be made up in one piece?

This is sooo pretty. I am going to try it...I think it would make an nice Christmas pin as well...

Great little project! I am using them instead of bows on gifts that will be shipped.

Two suggestions. First, instead of (5 hdc in last chain) for the point of the petals I made hdc, ch 2, sl st in 2nd chain from hook, hdc in the last chain. this gives the petal a little point that is more realistic.
Second - use tiny dots of hot glue on the back of each petal to hold each to a leaf. This helps keep everything in it's proper place!

They are also very pretty with off-white petals & red berries.

It's an easy pattern to follow however I didn't like that it is 15 pcs. I had a hard time sewing all the little pieces together and it took a long time. I plan on making more but will try to adapt the pattern.

So far I have made 8 of these. I was looking for "little gifts" and thought that this would make a christmas corsage. so instead of making them to hang I am putting a pin on the back so they can be attached to a sweater or jacket. they also would look great on a tree. So wear it, then let it rest on your tree !
Fast, easy fun project
