While this is a super cute hat.....the measurements are completely wrong!! I do crochet somewhat tight, so I chose to go with an I hook and I even added in a couple of extra rows because it looked so short. Now that it's done, it barely fits my 3 1/2 month old! This hat only fits 0-3 months, not anywhere near the size needed for a toddler!

Thanks Jennifer for your review - based on your comments I used a bigger hook (k) as this is also for a 1 yr old. I think it is going to fit fine to slightly big which is perfect with as fast as kids grow she will be able to wear it for a while - the pattern works up very extremely well and was very easy to follow! I finished this in one evening. I also used a pattern for crocheted buttons to avoid choking risk of using real buttons.

I'm just about finished with this hat. I just have the eyes and beak to finish up. I'm sure it will look cute when it's done, but, I think I expected the hat to be a little bigger. My baby is 1 (and petite) and the hat is barely going to fit her. I did use Cotton-Ease yarn instead of the Vanna's Choice but the yarns seemed comparable. The child in this picture looks older (maybe 2), so I assumed it would fit a 1yr old with no problem.
