The pattern turned out wonderfully. Unfortunately, the hat is huge! And this is coming from someone with a rather large head. I am trying to shrink it. Hopefully it works, because this is really a lovely pattern.

This pattern was super cute and had very well-written directions. However, the hat turned out to be HUGE! I am disappointed that it was so large and so can't really be used. I recommend not doing 36 rows on the brim (probably about 26-30 will definitely do the job) and using smaller needles since the hat is both too tall and too wide.

Very disappointed. This hat turned out way too large! I double checked my gauge and I'm sure I did everything right. I've done many color work projects and I've never had this happen before. Something is either off or not clear in the pattern. I'm going to try again and this time go off my own measurements and ignore the pattern row recommendations.

This hat is very attractive, and I enjoyed knitting the pattern. I used the alternative pattern. Regrettably, the hat is so large that neither I nor anyone else will be able to wear it. I am likely to knit it again, but, if so, I plan to shorten the brim and omit some other rows.

LOVE this Fair Isle Hat Reviewed by Nancy K Budds on 2012-02-11 *****
This hat is one of my favorite fast knitting projects. To date I've made over a dozen. I knit hats for charities & for relatives.
This pattern is IDEAL for using small amounts of left-over yarn by making the Fair Isle designs in multiple colors. If you can knit with multiple colors of yarn, you can knit this hat.

I chose this for my first fair isle project and loved the results. I chose the "alternate" pattern and I'm very happy with it. However... it may be my gauge but this hat would have been way too tall if I had done it as instructed... I omitted the rows designated as "crown" and it is still "taller" than I would have liked.

I made this hat for my husband in a wool blend. He loves it and will be really warm this winter. The pattern was well written and easy to follow. I love the way the top of this hat is finshed off.
