Instead of making these dishcloths, I made them a little longer and turned them into placemats. I made two light blue with a dark blue border and two dark blue with a light blue border. Turned out really nice! The test one I made was a royal purple with a cream border and it sits on my vanity in my bedroom. So pretty!

The hardest part for me was the first row of the border, but it was fun learning picot. I think it is a little long as a dishcloth as well, but still 5 stars for the cotton-ease (my favorite yarn for this season) the quickness and the new things I learned in a still easy project.

These are really easy and fast to work up. They look neat with a varigated yarn and solid edging as well. Or you can do a stripe of a different color in the middle.

Its a great easy pattern, but I would have to say it is for a Dish Towel, not a dish cloth, it it far too long--outside of that---they are so easy to make
PS maybe someones idea of a dish cloth is the length stated here, just not mine.
thanks Lion peoples
PS my daughter is also making them, and she made the origional one the length stated in pattern, and we all are trying to figure out what she will use it for--But I give it a rating of 5 for quick making dish cloths--watch your red color yarn, and like--they fade.

Retro Dishcloths-super quick and easy Reviewed by Sara Rice on 2010-07-26 *****
I just made this dishcloth and it is super easy to make. Never crocheted before either but half doubles are really easy. I used to knit dishcloths but this is so much quicker and easier. Going to get started early on holiday gifts!
