This pattern is so cute and easy! It's one of my first projects! I crocheted it for my mom and she loved it! It looked almost like the picture except for my nest. I followed the directions exactly but it turned out a little flat.

I put a jingle bell in each chick & momma, but my daughter is 7, so no choking hazard.
My advice is to make baby chicks first, then take on the momma bird. May find the rhythm of the pattern easier.
Also, I found the nest to be too wide, so I used the pattern 2sctog stitch to make the opening smaller so the babies could nest in there without falling out. I thought that the beaks were looking a bit more like duck bills, but it's still very cute. Could change over to the momma bird beak - its smaller.

Quick and easy project. I made the nest, babies and mommy bird for my little girl to play with and she just adores them. I did not attach the baby birds to the nest since I was making them as toys.

I made two sets of baby birdies-- one nestful is backyard birdies and one is baby parrots (bright green with pink-green-purple for the last two rows= tailfeathers!)
Another practical use for the nest is to hold earrings-- just slip the hooks thru the stitches on the nest. (Then your birdies will look like magpies, who love to collect shiny objects.)

I made these little guys in yellow and had a perfect Easter decoration.

Also, if you do not attach them to the nest they make a great cat toy.
