I made my own changes for this pattern- instead of making a strap 4 1/2 inches wide, I cut it in half and made my neck and back wider (I held it up to me, looked in a mirror and measured how I wanted it to fit.) I thought the neck and arms looked a bit unfinished in the end so I edged them in a single crochet and it looks much better. I also made this pattern in a blue and sliver stripe and it looks great! My husband loves how it looks on me. Over all this is a quick pattern to make (made this top in 2 days) if you read ahead and think through the instructions. I'm going to make this again for my sister and use a different color for the top and bottom.

I dont get that the shoulder straps should be 4 1/2" wide for an XL, either...THREE inches is too wide for me. Something is not right here. I guess I am frogging it and will find a pattern that works up the way it looks....what a waste of time.

I loved the color in the dress, and it fit me wonderfully and i made the straps wide enough to wear at school!

I get a lot of requests from friends to make this top for them. It's very fashionable! However, the # of sc rows that you have to crochet can test your patience.

Yes, I agree with Regina about the second shoulder shaping. I ended up pulling out a row on the first shoulder to make it come out with the second shoulder. Now I am getting to the skirt and I'm having trouble figuring out if the rows just go around without turning or if I should turn at the end of each row and go back. The pattern doesn't say turn at the end of each row, but looking at the picture it looks like that is what I should do. I'm glad I have as much crochet experience as I do so that I can figure out some of these glitches.

I thought the pattern was easy to follow except when you get to the second shoulder shaping. I had to do my own thing a little bit to make it work to match the first shoulder. The pattern is in need of some fine tuning in my opinon. Also, I was making the size for the 38 inch bust, and the shoulder straps are way too wide. If you are a 38 or 40 inch bust, your shoulder straps are going to be 4 1/2 inches wide! It was almost like mini sleeves! I didn't like it at all. I ripped it out and made somthing else. I would like it if the shoulder straps could still be narrow with the bigger sizes. Oh well.

I've never had a problem following the instructions until now. The instructions are very confusing.
